I bought these Sea to Summit straps so as to strap a sleeping mat to the top of my deuter Aircontact backpack.
The straps are 2m (80 in) long and 2cm (3/4 in) wide. The buckles are made from lightweight anodised aluminium.
They are rated to handle loads in excess of 200kg, which seems like overkill, and they are perfect for securing gear to packs or lashing dry-bags together for river-crossings. As they are each quite long, I found that one strap crossed over was sufficient to strap my sleeping mat to my pack.
They also come in handy for securing bikes on my Thule Freeway cycle carrier.
