The little village of Genadendal lies up against the Sonderend Mountains with the dramatic Baviaaanskloof behind it.
Getting there: drive East on the N2 from Cape Town. Just before Caledon, turn North (left) onto the R406, following the Greyton / Genadendal sign which will take you North to Genadendal.
The history of the town is linked to the Moravian Church, and the mission station established there in 1737.
There really appears to be nothing much happening in the village, and the only reason I can imagine for going there is to hike the Genadendal Hiking Trail which starts and finishes at the church.
