Grabouw is the center of the apple-growing region Elgin. I have been driving past this valley all my life, the only actual visit was to KROMCO on a school outing: I still remember the juicy apple we were each allowed to take off the export grade conveyor belt!
I was quite surprised to see how many wine estates there are in the area. You will find a number of estates on the well signposted Elgin Wine Route The area is significantly cooler than other wine areas such as Stellenbosch, Paarl & Franschhoek.
For the dirt action lovers, Grabouw hosts the annual XTERRA Grabouw off-road triathlon series over a weekend of tough competition at the Grabouw Country Club!
