Goukamma Nature Reserve and Marine Protected Area is a CapeNature reserve on the Southern Cape coastline near Knysna.
Getting there: The reserve is sign-posted on the N2 road between Knysna and Sedgefield at the Buffalo Bay turn-off: follow the Buffalo Bay road for approximately 8km and turn right (towards the river) into the reserve.
GPS Coordinates: -34.06869, 22.94822
A unique feature of the reserve is that most of the trails start and end with a trip across the Goukamma River by hand-drawn pont.
The grassed area on the banks of the river features picnic benches and braai-places. There is safe swimming in the warm water of the river.
The reserve is on the road to the popular seaside village of Buffalo Bay. There is a small, well-stocked supermarket as well as a restaurant.
