The Brenton Blue Butterfly has only ever been found in two locations: Nature’s Valley and Brenton-on-Sea. The special reserve, managed by CapeNature, was proclaimed in July 2003
Turn left off State President C.R. Swart Road into W.K. Grobler Avenue
There was a very real concern that The Great Knysna Fire of June 2017 wiped out this unique population. The species only survived as in its larval stage the butterfly exists underground.
