As I have been so happy with my deuter “futura” Daypack, when I went in search of a bigger pack, I naturally favored the deuter range, and settled on an Aircontact 55+10 Backpack.
The pack has a great set of features, and is fully adjustable to ensure a comfortable fit.
The Vari Quick adjustment allows you to adjust the pack according to the length of your back. The shoulder and waist straps are fully padded, and also fully adjustable.
The main compartment is has a removable divider near the bottom, with the bottom compartment accessible through a separate zippered opening. I use this to stow my sleeping bag and jacket.
The top cover of the main compartment extends to give you extra space, and also has a zippered compartment which is easy to reach when the bag is standing upright on the ground; great for maps or guide books that you need easy access to.
It has a built-in rain cover in a zippered compartment in the base of the bag. It is hydration-pack ready: my Nalgene bladder fits into the main compartment with the tube exiting through the custom opening and attaching to the shoulder strap with a velcro strip. There is a handy zippered pouch on the right-hand waist strap (great for a camera or a GPS unit).
