Nature’s Valley is a tiny little seaside hamlet that has managed to effectively limit development (I think they have a very active ratepayers association). The end result is enviable, and some other Garden Route destinations would have done well to have done the same.
Getting there: head east on the N2 from Plettenberg Bay for 21kms. Take the R102 turn-off and drive 11km down to Nature’s Valley.
GPS Coordinates: -33.97617, 23.56154
The Nature’s Valley Trust does some amazing work with the local community in preserving and conserving the area. See some of what they do on the Nature’s Valley Trust Facebook Page. The world-famous Otter Trail starts here, and of course, the Otter Trail Run alternately starts or finishes here each year.
