“Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen” by Christopher McDougall: I have heard so much about this book, so ordered myself a copy on Kalahari.net. I think it’s fair to say that this one book has done more for the minimalist running phenomenon than any other single thing.

Apart from being really well-written and highly amusing, this book caused me to rethink my entire approach to running. I wish I had read it earlier: I am certain it would have saved me from all my rookie injuries.

At one stage, the story was almost too fantastical, and I started wondering if this guy was for real! He sure is — read more about him on his own site, chrismcdougall.com, and on Wikipedia.

Whilst for now the orthotics that I have in my running shoes preclude me from running in minimalist shoes, I have certainly adapted my stride when running, and I have a pair of New Balance Minimus MT00 which I wear when walking, and to the gym.
