The situation on the Cape Peninsula with regards baboons continues to be controversial. According to this report on IOL, Cape baboons to be put down, two more baboons are due to be destroyed.
There appears to be no clear plan as to how the matter of “problem” baboons is to be managed, and for now the short-term solution that has been adopted is to destroy those baboons that demonstrate behaviour seen to be a possible danger to humans. The last “rogue” baboon to be destroyed on the Peninsula was “Fred” in March of 2011.
