Technically Route 62 starts just east of Ashton [-33.83068, 20.08088] in the Western Cape and ends west of Humansdorp [-34.03310, 24.60565] in the Eastern Cape. However, various marketing people have done what marketing people so often do, and have taken the liberty to extend it somewhat.
Google Maps tells me that this is 504km, just longer than the same route via the N2 (by taking the R60 south from Ashton to Swellendam and onto the N2). Whilst there is no denying the superiority of the N2 for getting from A to B speedily, the road less travelled will not take that much longer and will provide you with a wonderful journey through the Little Karoo.
