World Marathon Challenge 2012 with Richard Donovan

On a windy Wednesday night, 1 February 2012, 3 Cape Town runners joined Richard Donovan for the route of the Cape Town Marathon in his quest to run 7 marathons, on 7 continents, in 5 days.

I have not run the Cape Town Marathon yet, but was looking forward to running the route in the cool of the night. I am really keen to improve on my marathon time, which has dropped from 2 sub-4 hour efforts last year, to a much slower time at the CAPESTORM Redhill Marathon last month.

We completed the route in 4:23:55, making this even slower than my Redhill Marathon time. Considering that the Redhill route is hilly and the Cape Town route is flat as a pancake, I am now pretty concerned as to what I am doing wrong. Looks like some quality sessions in the form of hill repeats may be in my near future!
