As my climbing partners are often significantly lighter than I am, and additionally often as inexperienced, the weight difference makes belaying me a fairly nerve-wracking experience for both parties involved: there’s nothing like taking a small fall and meeting your belayer going up as you come down. For this reason I have started a collection of trad gear to build belaying anchors, starting with a Wild Country Rockcentric #6.
The Rockcentric can be extended with something like a daisy chain fastened to the belayer’s climbing harness, and then wedged firmly into a suitable crack. In the event of a decent fall, the belayer is then held down by this anchor arrangement.
