So I really like my Nalgene 32 Ounce Wide Mouth canteen, mainly as it is easy to fill with big ice cubes as well as easy to clean. Some people may be put off by drinking from such a wide opening though, and admittedly there is an increased opportunity for spillage.

I am always on the look-out for durable, lightweight, taste-free solutions to carrying liquids on outdoor adventures: I already own a Nalgene CXC 2L Rapid Fill Bladder and recently added a Nalgene 32 Ounce Wide Mouth canteen to my collection.
I have been looking for something to carry milk in when hiking, and finally found this Nalgene 16 Ounce Wide Mouth canteen which carries 500ml when filled to the brim.
I am a huge fan of Deuter backpacks as I have had such good use out of my Deuter “futura” Daypack. So when I went in search of a pack for some two-day hiking, I quickly settled on their Aircontact 55l Backpack.
I had heard so many stories about how you could never get rid of the “plastic taste” in these hydration systems. This and the fact that it seemed like overkill to me to actually use one for hiking made me hesitant to buy one. However, my deuter day-pack is “hydration system-ready”, so I decided to give it a try, and bought a 2l Nalgene Bladder from Cape Union Mart.
