 This is a beautiful coastal walk from Jongensfontein to Stilbaai. The trail is easy to follow as you are never more than 20 metres from the water’s edge following the path or simply walking along the beach. The terrain varies between narrow trails through the dune scrub, boulder hopping, and soft sandy beaches. [...]  We were in the West Coast National Park after the Langebaan Lagoon Crossing, so took the opportunity to take a whirlwind tour of the Park. We walked the three kilometres along the beach from Tsaarsbank to the wreck of the Pantalis A Lemos. [...]  Nature’s Valley is a tiny little seaside hamlet that has managed to effectively limit development (I think they have a very active ratepayers association). The end result is enviable, and some other Garden Route destinations would have done well to have done the same. Getting there: from Cape Town on the N2 past Plettenberg [...] Paternoster is a small fishing village on the West Coast. The developers have not yet managed to ruin it; it is a working fishing village (when the government deems to issue the fishermen with licenses) and it still retains is charm. [...]  This is an easy walk along Noordhoek Beach, a pristine stretch of white sand running from Noordhoek at the foot of Chapman’s Peak to Kommetjie in the south. [...]  Smitswinkel Bay is a great spot for a beach picnic. You can boulder-hop a short way in the Cape Point direction at low tide and admire the sea cliffs and caves. [...] |
