Storm’s River Mouth Trail

After completing the Otter African Trail Run 2011, we went and spent some time exploring at the Storms River Mouth Rest Camp in the Tsitsikamma Section of the Garden Route National Park. This is a walk I have done many times in the past during family holidays on the Garden Route.

Getting there: drive 55km east from Plettenberg Bay to reach the turnoff to the Storms River Mouth Rest Camp. Park at the restaurant and admin buildings which are 10kms inside the park.
Difficulty: easy walk on good trails
GPS Coords: -34.022895, 23.898008

This is the awesome walk from the camp to the suspension bridge at Storm’s River mouth. We had plenty of time, and I was in no state to rush, so for a change I took things real slow, and Zoë helped me appreciate the small details that I normally miss…

The weather was cold and wet, and we wrapped-up warmly to enjoy the walk. The trail is mostly along board-walks, and has informational boards.

The walk starts on the far side of the restaurant and follows the coastline to the mouth of the Storms River.

We had a bang-up breakfast at the restaurant which is beautifully situated over-looking the coast.
