Secret Pool, Beaverlac

This pretty pool is likely to be less crowded than the Main Pool at Beaverlac, but is nonetheless popular, and “secret” in name only. It is in full sun in the afternoon, and there is little shade, but there is more space to sit and put up a beach umbrella. The pool itself is in the shadow of the cliffs in the morning.

Secret Pool, Beaverlac

Walk from the shop up the road that you arrived on. As you leave the last camp, turn right instead of left, following the signpost directing you to Africa, Olifants River etc. Walk a few hundred meters before turning left off the jeep track onto a trail. If you reach the concrete weir, you have gone too far.

The river is just to your right. Keep on going, ignoring any paths leading to the water, until you see the small cliffs on the other side of the river: this is the Secret Pool.

It is 1.06 km from the shop, and should take you no more than 15 minutes of walking.

This is one for: bathing costume, sunblock, beach umbrella, cooler box.

Please do not take any glass to the pools.
