Garden Route Game Lodge

The Garden Route Game Lodge is a small game reserve in the malaria-free Western Cape. It’s on the N2 near Albertinia just outside Mossel Bay.

Website: www.grgamelodge.co.za
Getting there:
drive along the N2 from Cape Town. From Albertinia [-34.2125, 21.5848] drive 4.5km; the gate will be on the left [-34.20886, 21.63348].
GPS Coordinates: -34.2017, 21.6353

You could easily include a quick game drive in your next trip up the coast. The lodge entrance is on the N2, and the reserve stretches North of the road.

We stopped by for a Sunday game drive and saw an elephant, lions, a cheetah mom and her cubs, eland, gazelle, springbok, kudu and giraffe. The two rhinos chose to sulk in the fynbos out of sight.

There is also a reptile park with crocodiles, and a seriously impressive selection of snakes, none of which I would like to bump into out of doors.
