The West Coast Athletics Club hosts The Battle Up Blaauwberg Hill Trail Run in the Blaauwberg Nature Reserve, a relatively new reserve along the R27 on the West Coast near Blouberg.

I chatted to one of the officials afterwards, and it appears that for now access to the reserve is very restricted. Such a pity: what a wonderful opportunity for the municipality to create jobs and make the reserve sustainable.
The area inland from the hill is being rehabilitated, and progress is being made clearing alien Port Jackson. The hill itself, and the coastal aspect of the hill appear to be free of alien vegetation, and I saw one Fire Heath, and plenty Chincherinchees.
