Last year’s Pick ‘n’ Pay Weekend Argus Rotary Knysna Cycle Tour was cut short by roadworks which we hope are now complete. I heard some scary stories about over-eager cyclists creating some pretty hairy incidents.

Slight changes to the route have been made and a new route for 2014 has been confirmed. This exciting route will be 105km long with 1577 m of climbing, taking cyclists from Knysna to Sedgefield to Karatara to Barrington and back to Knysna.

Brief description of the Route:

The cyclists will start in Knysna ride along the lagoon westward, climb Katersneck and then descend into the Gouna Valley and proceed on the N2 to Sedgefield where they will turn at about 24 km from Knysna. After the turn in Sedgefield the route travels east on the N2 till the Karatara – Barrington turnoff where the field will cycle North till the Karatara turnoff +- 35km from the start. The route then climbs through plantation and forest till a turnaround just before the historic town of Karatara. It is then downhill back to the Barrington turnoff at +- 55 km. It’s then up the Barrington hill to the turnaround at just over 72 km, return down the Barrington road back to the N2 at +- 86 km then rejoin the N2 and then ride back to the finish in Knysna at +- 106 km.
