Swellendam is the fourth oldest town in South Africa, and was at one stage declared a republic!
Swellendam lies just north of the N2 about 220km from Cape Town in the Overberg region. The N.G Kerk has a rather unusual architecture, and the rest of the town boasts plenty of more traditional Cape-Dutch architecture.
The Bontebok National Park lies just outside the town.
