Entries are open for the 2011 Namaqualand Trail Run! I took part in the Namaqualand Trail Run 2010 and can highly recommend this as a great weekend away. This is a tough race, including a sustained climb of 1244m (Platteklip Gorge on Table Mountain pales in comparison at only 640m).

Distances: 20km / 10km
When: Saturday, 27 August 2011
Time: 08h30 / 09h00
Where: Garies, Northern Cape

Getting there: drive about 500km up the N7 until you reach the town of Garies.

Entries are R250 for the 20km route and R175 for the 10km route. This includes:

  • Race entry
  • first Ascent Racing Tee worth R230
  • camping on the Roodebergskloof farm for Friday and Saturday night
  • local food cooked by 4 local ladies after the race

As there are only a limited number of entries please be sure to enter as soon as possible.

Registration will open from 7:30 am on the morning of the race as well as the evening before the race.

The facilities at the campsite are in the process of being upgraded. There will be a substantial improvement over last year, and we camped at the Municipal Caravan Park in Garies. There is running water and a beautiful dam, but there is no electricity, only one outdoor shower and a few long drops.
