My Willow Creek MTB Challenge 2012

The annual Willow Creek MTB Challenge took place on Saturday, 13 May 2012 at Willow Creek Olive Estate, Nuy Valley on a super-warm, sunny autumn day. I went for a sociable morning outing with The Master, who would be completing his first official MTB race.

Getting there: take the N1 from Cape Town through Worcester and Robertson. Take a left a the signs for Nuy Valley, and follow the road for a few kilometres until you see the Willow Creek Estate signs.

As usual, the race was superbly organised, and the route was marked out in detail. The course is a non-technical affair that follows gravel farm roads almost all the way, and there is no real climbing to speak of, just two small hills at about the 16km mark. It is a relaxing ride, and perfect for beginners or people like myself looking for a relaxing ride.
