Cape Union Mart

Cape Union Mart logoLarge retail chain carrying a wide range of equipment. I have also had problems with them not stocking spares etc for some of their items — but then this seems to be par for the course for South African retailers. Don’t bother shopping at any of the branches, they are poorly stocked — head straight for their massive Adventure Centre at Canal Walk: it carries a larger selection of goods, and many items not stocked in the branches. It is heaven for any outdoor enthusiast!

Century City Canoe Club

Century City Canoe Club logo6kms of waterways in Century City run past residential, commercial, retail property & Intaka Island providing an urban paddle.

Seven Summits logoIndoor climbing venue with plenty of routes on the climbing walls and a bouldering section. There is a fully stocked gear shop – Seven Summits / Mountain Mail Order has in fact just moved in and the two have merged! You can rent climbing shoes and harnesses if you are new to the sport (you can rent gear to use outside of the venue as well). Helpful, friendly staff add to the great camaraderie that I have found to be a hallmark of the climbing fraternity!
