I loved the 2013 Langebaan Lagoon Crossing swim and I am super-pleased at the new date as it makes it perfect for IronMan 2014 training! This is a friendly event that anyone can enjoy, and you can pretty much choose how you want to take part: you can paddle, SUP, swim or use any other mode of water transport.
If you found swimming through the kelp in the Around the Island swim a bit nerve-wracking, or around the rocks in errr…. Round the Rocks to scary, have no fear: this crossing is nowhere near as daunting.
Super-fun and super-safe, this brilliantly organised event is perfect open water training for IronMan, and a great introduction to open-water swimming as the lagoon waters are calm and clear, and not too cold.
The swim ends in the West Coast National Park so make a day of it and pack a braai / picnic.
