This looks cool: you can take it as a serious open-water swim, or grab the closest floating object and just drift across the lagoon. I really enjoyed the Around the Island Swim last year, and this looks like another great challenge.
Cross the Langebaan Lagoon on muscle power alone. Swim, paddle, kayak or be more original… Swimming aids allowed.
The swim will start at Shark Bay and end at Kraal Bay. I am not certain but I think Shark Bay is just south from Langebaan itself [-33.11287, 18.04401], and Kraal Bay [-33.1422, 18.0235] is on the other side of the lagoon where the houseboats are moored. Kayaks and other bulky floating devices will be launched from the Langebaan Yacht Club. There is a map on the site.
Total swim distance: 4.0 km (of which 1.9 km can be waded)
Total kayak distance: 5.3 km
