Inaugural Meeting: Table Mountain MTB Forum

I have from time-to-time seen MTB tyre-tracks on Table Mountain in places where I am pretty certain cycling is not allowed. I don’t think we can deny that mountain biking causes considerable damage to trails, and I think it’s important that this is controlled. Even areas set aside for bikes, such as Tokai, need to be carefully monitored to ensure that erosion does not become too severe.

I assume with the above in mind, a new initiative is happening which will hopefully see the key role-players engaging in conversation with a view to achieving this.

Via a Pedal Power Association newsletter:

“Interested parties are invited to attend the inaugural meeting of the Table Mountain MTB Forum. The purpose of the meeting is to inform attendees on progress with establishing a forum to negotiate with SANParks and other land owners regarding the use of mountain bikes within the Table Mountain National Park. Please RSVP to reception@cndv.co.za to receive a copy of the draft constitution.”

Date: 22 August 2012
Time: 18h00
