Gericke’s Point

This is a super-fun outing especially if you have little ones along: they will love swimming in and exploring the numerous rock pools.

Getting there: head west from Sedgefield. Take the turnoff to Swartvlei Beach at the Sedge Links. Drive past the golf course and the Sedgefield lagoon and into the parking lot.

A walk along the Swartvlei Beach to Gericke’s Point [-34.036058, 22.765509] is an easy, peaceful outing for all ages.

A visit at low tide will give you a chance to walk around the point and explore the contents of the magical rock pools. You are sure to find scores of starfish and sea anemones.

Remember to take your sunhat and sunblock as there is no shade at all.
