Gannaga Lodge, Tankwa Karoo National Park
Gannaga Pass, Tankwa Karoo National Park

We took the time to drive up the Gannaga Pass on out trip to the Tankwa Karoo Nationl Park.

Road surface: dirt road in good condition, sedan not recommended, head for heights required

We were blown away by this pass, not expecting what we found either in magnitude or beauty.

The pass is a narrow dirt road, so passing is restricted and it is worth being alert to approaching traffic and waiting in suitable spots for passing when available.

There is a view site near the top where you can survey the Tankwa Karoo lying at your feet. It is well worth continuing past this as the pass finally arrives at the quirky Gannaga Lodge where there are vistas forever and cold beers.
