Final Sea Dog of the 2012 / 2013 season

I could not possibly have asked for a better introduction into the sport of surfski as the one I got thanks to Nikki and Dawid Mocke and all involved with the Sea Dog Series.

Friday 15 March 2013 was the last Sea Dog Surfski time trial for the 2012—2013 season. My first Sea Dog, on 26 October 2012, was only the 4th time I’d been in my new Fenn Swordfish, and I am super-pleased at the progress I have made in less than half a year as measured Friday-to-Friday. I have loved rushing from work each Friday to wash the week off in the warm water of Fish Hoek Bay, sometimes in some pretty hairy conditions to honour the Sea Dog creed” “Never Cancelled”. I managed to get to 12 of the 20 in the series.

I will need to keep up my paddling during the winter months unless I want to continue getting my ass kicked by teenage schoolgirl paddlers in the 2013—2014 season!

If you are keen on this amazing sport, pop in at The Paddling Centre in Fish Hoek, let The Mockes and their team infect you with their passion! Keep tuned for the 2013—2014 series which will start in October.

A huge thanks to: Nikki & Dawid and the team behind the series, ADT, Hansa and all the sponsors; John and Kassie for all the amazing action photos; Fish Hoek Lifesaving Club for hosting; and all my fellow Sea Dogs for the fun times.
