Disa Pool

This is a fairly easy hike from Kromrivier campsite up-river to Disa Pool. It’s easy-going and you are rewarded with a swim in a beautiful rock pool. I did this as a trail run, but it it is a lovely walk for the whole family which holds the reward of a dip in a gorgeous pool.

Distance: 16km
Difficulty: easy walk along easy to follow single track

From the campsite, with the river on your right, walk up the gravel road, passing some bungalows and the dam.

About 4.5 km along the jeep track, the track heads down to the river: head straight across and pick up the trail on the other side, heading left, upstream up the valley. At this point the valley closes in. After a few kilometers, the trail crosses back to the left bank of the river, and at times you will hike gently up and down the valley, always within less than 20 meters of the river.

Keep a lookout for Red Disas in season (January — March).

When you reach the pool, cross the stream on the rocks above it, and descend to the pool on the far side.
