Whilst it is debatable as to what exactly should be required, I believe that this this is entirely necessary and that that organisers need to specify a minimum gear list, and most importantly, enforce it. This Press Release just in from SSISA: [...] ![]() The moment South African Trail Running enthusiasts have been waiting for has arrived, the organisers of the ProNutro AfricanX Trailrun presented by New Balance have announced the route for the third and final stage of this much loved event that will take place in Elgin/Grabouw the weekend of 19 – 21 April 2013. [...] ![]() According to Hendrico Burger, Route Designer, this will be the first time in the history of the ProNutro AfricanX Trailrun that a stage features so much single trails. “Stage Two will be a stage for real runners. In addition to the copious amount of single trails, runners will also need to contend with tough terrain that features a lot of loose surfaces, ups and downs and very little level running. The route won’t, however, be too technical for fit runners,” says Burger. [...] ![]() As spoilt as we are, living with Table Mountain on our doorstep, it is unsafe to venture on the mountain alone, and many trail runners (especially the ladies) are prevented from enjoying the endless kilometers of world-class trail on offer. Fortunately the trail running community has grown in leaps and bounds in the last few years. Not only do we have a fledgeling trail running association in the Western Cape, but we have a number of active trail running groups providing the opportunity for anyone who is moderately fit to join an organised run.
