My Sabrina Love Ocean Challenge 15km Paddle

We paddled from Central Beach, around the Beacon Island Hotel and then across the bay to the end of Robberg Beach. From the turn buoy we cruised out along the Robberg peninsula, passing the smelly seals on the way to the point where we turned on a buoy and headed directly back to the start. There was a light ocean swell following but not enough to make too much difference, so it was an honest paddle all the way.

My First Miller’s Run

In Cape Town MTB circles, people talk about cycling up to the Constantiaberg Mast, known simply as The Mast, as a kind of rite-of-passage. Likewise, in surfski paddling you must complete what is considered by many to be the finest downwind track: The Miller’s Run. Sunday afternoon, 03 March 2013 was a beautiful warm summer’s day featuring decent swell, and most importantly: 32 knots of wind travelling in a South-south-easterly direction.

My Best 4 Surfski Series: Butlers Pizza Milnerton Lagoon Beach Rush 2013

Race #8 of the 2012 / 2013 Best 4 Surfski Series took place at Lagoon Beach, Milnerton on Sunday 20 January 2013. Prize giving was held on The Lagoon Beach Hotel’s pool deck which adjoins the beach and has unbeatable views of the ocean, Robben Island, Table Bay, Signal Hill and Lion’s Head, and the Mother City with Table Mountain as it’s backdrop.

DownWind Dash

The DownWind Dash is held on Wednesday’s, and is a paddle from Milnerton Lighthouse to Big Bay Blouberg in downwind conditions (when Cape Town’s prevailing summer South Easter is blowing). Mastering downwind paddling seems to be the aspect of the sport that paddlers seem to aspire to, and it certainly is not as easy as you might think it would be. The reward when getting it right is a thrilling ride which will keep any ocean-lover coming back for more!
