[...] ![]() This short steep walk ends at a beautiful waterfall near the top of the deep kloof behind Algeria. An added bonus is that the trail passes through a (man-made) forest of Cedar Trees. [...] ![]() This is really a quick walk as you can in fact see the “Lot’s Wife” rock formation from the road. [...] ![]() Lot’s Wife is a rock formation a short stroll from the road in Cederberg close to Dwarsrivier farm. [...] ![]() I disliked history at school, and dropped it as a subject as soon as I was able. Like so many other things in my life, like literature, I have since developed an appreciation for the history of our country. Each place has its own little history, and I enjoy the dimension it adds to the enjoyment of exploring it. [...] ![]() On a recent trip to the Cederberg we paid a visit to the Stadsaal. I had last visited this area on my first trip to the Cederberg in 1984! Somehow I had never found time on subsequent trips to wander amongst the fantastical rocks of fantasy rock forest. [...] ![]() This two-day hike in the Central Cederberg took us from Driehoek Farm to our over-night spot at Crystal Pools, and then back via Sneeukop. It was an amazing experience during which we crossed paths with only one other group of people. Highlights of hike are most certainly the pools at Crystal Pools, and the Cedar trees. [...] ![]() This is one of the highlights of any trip to the Central Cederberg. The Cederberg in general is known for is fantastical rock formations, and the Cracks will not disappoint. The Arch itself is certainly the largest such natural beauty of its kind that I know of in South Africa, and stands in an area of great beauty and silence. [...] ![]() This is a fairly easy hike from Kromrivier campsite up-river to Disa Pool. It’s easy-going and you are rewarded with a swim in a beautiful rock pool. [...] ![]() My first ever visit to this pool was on a Standard 5 school trip to the Cederberg. We have always pronounced this Malgat (crazy hole), though the correct spelling and pronounciation appears to be Maalgat (grind hole). [...] |
