Kromrivier

Another stunning camping experience in the Cederberg can be had at Kromrivier.

Getting there: drive up the N7, pass Citrusdal. 200km, and just before reaching Clanwilliam, take a left onto a dirt road. Up the Nieuwoudt Pass, pass Algeria on your left and over Uitkyk Pass. 2km past the turn-off to Sanddrif take the right [-32.5071, 19.2833] and head south for 4.5km.

I camped at Kromrivier once a few years ago. It is slightly further south than Driehoek and  Sanddrif, but still close to all the Central Cederberg attractions.

There is a small dam that you can swim in, and a river runs through the site (not enough water to swim in during hot summer months). Reception has a shop selling milk, a small variety of softdrinks and sweets, and ice.

Accommodation

Campsites and cottages.

Things to do

  1. For a stunning walk, follow the river up the valley to Disa Pool
  2. There are bolted sports routes at nearby Truitjieskraal,  as well as at Sanddrif Crag
  3. Visit the rock formations and rock art at Stadsaal
  4. Hike up to the Wolfberg Cracks and Arch, or Maltese Cross
