I was persuaded to go climbing again after a break of a few months. I was amazed at these stunning bolted routes at Silvermine — right on my doorstep!

Getting there: enter at the main Silvermine gate (the reservoir side). About halfway along the road to the reservoir, you will find a parking lot on the right-hand side, where all the mountain bikers park. Park here, and take the path at the back of the lot. You will reach a jeep track — head left for about 500m, then take the trail heading up the ridge. After about 300m, it heads over the ridge and drops steeply down the Tokai side.

Neal of Paarl led us on some sports routes at this stunning crag below Silvermine.
