Mike Lundy’s “Best Walks in the Cape Peninsula” contains 30 great hikes.
The name Mike Lundy is a household name in South African. This book contains some walks you will surely already be aware of, like Lion’s Head, as well as some gems that you may not know about, like Suikerbossie Circuit (Myburgh’s Waterfall Ravine), and Right Face — Arrow Face Traverse.
To be fair, I must make the same criticism of this book as I made of Karen Watkin’s book, “Adventure Walks and Scrambles in the Cape Peninsula”: on the first attempt attempt at the above-mentioned route, we lost the trail, despite having both books with us!
On my second attempt, armed with not only both books but Slingsby’s Map of Table Mountain as well, I managed to find my way. It will be great when books such as this contain GPS co-ordinates for critical points on each route!
I have not has this problem on any of the other routes I have done. Clearly written, easy-to-follow directions, route maps, and practical advice all combined to make this book excellent value.
